At 3188 Squiggle Splat Bang, we’re more than just a robotics team—we’re a nonprofit on a mission to expand access to STEM education through the FIRST Tech Challenge. Based in Powell, Wyoming, we’ve built a legacy of competition success, innovation, and mentorship. Our goal is simple: empower students across the state by sharing knowledge, resources, and opportunities so that every team—regardless of location or budget—has the chance to thrive, compete, and grow.
SSB Robotics, officially known as Team 3188 Squiggle Splat Bang, began competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) in the early 2010s. We’re based in Powell, Wyoming—a small town with big ambitions.
Over the years, we’ve transformed from a high school robotics team into a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing STEM opportunities across the state. After multiple trips to the FTC World Championships and three consecutive state titles, we saw a gap: many talented teams in Wyoming lacked the resources to compete on equal footing.
So, we took action. Today, we use our platform to share our knowledge, equipment, and experience with other teams—and help level the playing field for every Wyoming student interested in robotics.
We exist to empower FTC teams across Wyoming, especially in underfunded schools and rural areas where launching a robotics program is difficult.
Our goals include:
Helping new FTC teams get started and compete
Offering free resources like CAD files, engineering portfolios, and tutorials
Providing financial support through equipment grants
Creating a statewide robotics community that shares knowledge and support
We're committed to the belief that every student has potential, and with the right tools and mentorship, they can turn ideas into innovation.
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics competition for students in grades 7–12. Sponsored by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), FTC challenges teams to design, build, program, and operate robots to solve specific engineering tasks in a competitive environment.

We’ve proudly earned four state titles, competing both in and out of Wyoming and proving that a small-town team can take on big challenges—and win.

Each year, we’ve grown stronger—improving our robot designs, teamwork, and strategy. These wins helped us qualify for the World Championship and gave us the platform to start helping other teams do the same.
We’ve had the amazing chance to represent Wyoming at the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championship—where top teams from around the world come together to compete and learn.
2022 – Our first modern time at Worlds, where we got to see how far FTC can really go.
2024 – Came back stronger with a better robot and more experience.
2025 – Our best year yet, feeling confident and proud on the global stage.
These trips opened our eyes to the difference resources can make—and inspired us to help more Wyoming teams experience it too.
